IN HIS HONOR

HOPE GROWS

Our Story

The MGB Memorial Giving Charity stands as a lasting tribute to Michael Braverman — a remarkable young man who faced osteosarcoma with unmatched courage, strength, and positivity. What began as a small golf fundraiser organized by the Apponequet Regional High School community to support Michael during his chemotherapy has grown into an annual tradition of hope.

Today, this noble charity honors his legacy by helping students at Apponequet Regional High School pursue their dreams through higher education. Each year, we are reminded that even in the face of loss, love, community, and perseverance can create a future full of promise.

Our Family

This tournament is deeply personal. It celebrates Michael’s life, his resilience, and the profound impact he continues to have on everyone who knew him. Michael’s journey was never walked alone. It was supported every step of the way by family and close friends whose love never wavered, creating a bond that stood firmly beside him through every triumph, every challenge, and every moment in between.

The Braverman family tree stretches well before and beyond Michael’s devoted parents, Gayle and Gary Braverman. It includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends; a wide, unwavering circle of support that wrapped Michael in love, strength, and hope.

Their example reminds us that true family is about more than just shared bloodlines — it’s about standing together through life’s hardest moments, lifting each other higher, and ensuring that no one ever faces their battles alone.Today, the MGB Memorial Giving Charity carries that spirit forward, built on the foundation of unconditional love, lasting community, and the belief that from deep roots, new hope always grows.

Our Sponsors

We are profoundly grateful for every sponsor who stands behind this cause. Together, you are the living extension of Michael’s spirit, proof that kindness, generosity, and community can change lives in lasting ways.

Our Volunteers and Supporters

Our volunteers and supporters are the heart and soul of the MGB Memorial Giving Charity.

They are family members, lifelong friends, and caring supporters who show up year after year, not for recognition, but out of love, loyalty, and a shared belief in making a difference.

Their dedication goes far beyond simply lending a hand. They donate their time, energy, resources, and passion, setting up the event, organizing registrations, managing logistics, cheering on participants, taking photography and video, maintaining the website, and ensuring every detail is handled with care. Their efforts create the warm, welcoming spirit that defines this event and carries Michael’s legacy forward.

It is their willingness to go the extra mile, to give freely of themselves, they transform an event into a true labor of love. Every small act, every behind-the-scenes task, every supportive smile becomes part of something far greater: a celebration of community, resilience, and hope.

Our Partner Golf-Course

We are proud to host our annual golf tournament at LeBaron Hills Country Club. Their ongoing support has provided us with a beautiful and professional setting to honor Michael’s legacy and raise scholarship funds through the MGB Memorial Giving Charity.

We appreciate the consideration they’ve shown our organization, along with the hospitality and care their team brings to each event. Their role in helping us bring our community together year after year is meaningful and valued.

We’re thankful to LeBaron Hills Country Club for being part of this journey with us.

Our Beneficiary Institution

Every round played, every sponsorship pledged, and every donation made directly supports scholarships for students at Apponequet Regional High School — a community that stood by the Braverman family with unwavering support during Michael’s most difficult days. It was here, among classmates, teachers, coaches, and administrators, that Michael found a circle of encouragement and love that lifted him up and helped sustain his spirit. What began as a grassroots fundraiser organized by the school evolved into a movement of hope and purpose, reflecting the deep compassion that Apponequet is known for.

In addition, we have recently opened up our scholarship awards to children of our sponsors, golfers, and volunteers. To date since our organization was formed, we have awarded scholarships to 64 deserving students.

Apponequet Regional High School is more than a place of learning, it is a community grounded in integrity, resilience, and care. The school’s charter emphasizes creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where every student is encouraged to dream big, work hard, and grow into compassionate, capable citizens. This philosophy was evident in how the faculty and student body rallied around Michael, making sure he never walked alone in his fight. Their actions spoke louder than words, showing what it truly means to educate the whole person, not just the student.

The MGB Scholarship remains deeply tied to this school because Apponequet shaped the person Michael was and continues to shape the lives of those who follow in his footsteps. Each scholarship awarded is a reflection of the school’s commitment to nurturing potential and supporting students in reaching for their futures, especially those who, like Michael, show courage in the face of adversity. It’s a continuation of a shared legacy rooted in heart, community, and belief in something greater.

We are profoundly grateful for the role Apponequet Regional High School plays in this journey, not only as the beneficiary of the scholarship fund, but as a co-creator of the spirit behind it. The school has never been just a setting in this story; it has been a catalyst for kindness, a haven during hardship, and a home where Michael’s legacy is carried forward by each new generation of students who walk its halls with strength, integrity, and purpose.
